Dr. Marcel Weil

Dr. Marcel Weil is a scientific group leader and principal investigator in the field “Systems Analysis and Constructive Technology Assessment (CTA) for Emerging Technologies” at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Marcel Weil finished his PhD in 2004 at the Technical University of Darmstadt, IWAR-Institute.

His research focuses on the integration of system analysis and constructive technology assessment into the early phase of material and technology developments. Since 2011 he is heading a second working group at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm for electrochemical energy storage (HIU), in the topic field “Resources, Environment and Sustainability”. Within the Helmholtz project “Energy System 2050” he manages the subtopic “Life Cycle Sustainability of Energy Storage and Grids”. Furthermore he is responsible for the topic “sustainability” of the German excellence cluster “Energy Storage Beyond Lithium” (2019-2026).
